|The Children’s Room offers regular literacy programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as special program throughout the year such as our summer reading challenge, nature and science programs and book events. Our regular school year programs engage our youngest museum patrons through stories, songs, games, and crafts. For toddlers our story hour promotes speech and listening skills though repetition and fun challenges. Our preschool program assists in the development of early social and behavioral skills essential for schooling. The Pokemon League meets Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Deering Room. Check back for schedule changes.
A Pokemon League provides a nearby place for you to get together with other fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and have some fun. Using your own cards you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this with other Pokemon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do.

Tuesday August 14th 3 p.m-4.p.m. All Ages Animal Experts from Chewonki, a school, camp, and environmental education organization will present a Traveling Natural History program. They will present intriguing aspects of the natural world and bring LIVE animal guests. The topic is TBD
Shake, Shimmy, and Dance
Fridays 10 a.m. June 29th-August 17th
ages 3 and under
Babies and Toddlers, along with their favorite adults, siblings, cousins or friends, are invited to join us for a dance party every week this summer until August 17th. Come for a story or two and at least half an hour of dancing and songs.
Meet the Music Storytime
Thursdays 1 p.m. June 28th-August 16th
ages 4 and up
Learn about the artists behind some of the world's most famous music, listen to their creations and enjoy fun activities. *For preschool and school age children who can enjoy a longer story and activity
Wii U Afternoon
Wednesdays, August 8th and August 15th, 2:00-3:30 Ages 10 and up
Enjoy playing games including Mario Kart, Minecraft, and Just Dance on our Wii U in the refreshingly cool and air conditioned Deering Room!
