Children's Literacy Programs:

The Children’s Room offers regular literacy programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as special program throughout the year such as our summer reading challenge, nature and science programs and book events. Our regular school year programs engage our youngest museum patrons through stories, songs, games, and crafts. For toddlers our story hour promotes speech and listening skills though repetition and fun challenges. Our preschool program assists in the development of early social and behavioral skills essential for schooling. Thursday, April 19, 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Join us for an interactive story dance presented by students from Collective Motion Dance Studio. Children will be led in simple movements throughout the story during this interactive dance and story time.

Sharks 4 Kids
April 17, 5:30 p.m.

Join Sharks 4 Kids as they present an hour long program all about sharks! Enjoy vivid slides, kids activities and a shark craft. Deering Room, Dyer Library

Thornton Academy is now offering an early learning
program for kids ages 3-6 whose parents want to get a head start on kindergarten level basics. Our student mentors want to teach your child how to count, read, and learn. While laying the groundwork for preschool or kindergarten, we hope to also build the framework for kids to learn and explore on their own!

Interested in Anime? Already a fan or curious to know what it's all about? Join us for old and new favorites, plus snacks and socializing. Meets the last Friday of each month.

Read Across America Day
Monday, March 5th
Dyer Library Children's Room
The Dyer Library and local educators once again unite to celebrate Read Across America Day with a pajama story time. Come listen to Saco educators read their favorite stories to mark the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Children may wear pajamas, bring their favorite stuffed toy, blanket, or pillow.

Join us on Wednesdays for after school "lounge", where tweens and teens can be themselves. A safe and fun space for homework, socializing and/or participating in various group activities. Drop in for ten minutes for stay for an hour.

Pokemon League
March 8, 15 & 29, April 12, 19 & 26

The Pokemon League meets the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursday evening of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Deering Room.

A Pokemon League provides a nearby place for you to get together with other fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and have some fun. Using your own cards you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this with other Pokemon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do.

This special program for kids 18 months to three years old includes finger plays, songs, sign language, movement and stories with social time for parents and play time for children afterwards.
